As more businesses move their information technology systems into the cloud, attorneys must decide if cloud computing is right for their law firms. The term “cloud” is common, but it is also often misunderstood by legal professionals. There are many benefits to using cloud technology to run a law firm but making client and law firm data available over the internet using third-party servers can leave legal professionals with many questions.
Presented by LEAP Legal Software, this Continuing Legal Education course will address the effects and ethical implications of using cloud computing by attorneys in their law firms. First, we will define cloud computing and the cloud computing solutions available in today’s IT marketplace. Next, we will discuss the advantages of cloud computing, including how law firms utilize it in their work and the trends driving more and more attorneys to the cloud. Finally, we will consider the ethical implications of cloud computing in legal practice by exploring various attorney conduct rules and state ethics opinions touching on the subject.
This program will benefit attorneys in private practice, especially those lawyers tasked with actively managing their law firms’ information technology set-ups. There is no cost to attend this event. CLE Credit is pending approval.
